Republic F-84F Thunderstreak 'The Suez Crisis' 1/72. The F-84F Thunderstreak swept-wing jet fighter was a development of the Republic F-84G straight wing aircraft. Using a wing with the sweep along with a more powerful jet engine improved the performance to that of the F-86 Sabre. At first, the F-84F experienced several trouble with their power units, manoeuvrability as well as with corrosion. Later, after the outbreak of the Berlin Crisis and subsequent need to make the NATO forces more powerful, the F-84F jets started to equip many NATO air forces, including that of Germany and France, while earlier these planes were used mainly by the USAF and US Guard units. The first combat deployment the F-84F saw was during the Suez Crisis and the only air victories gained by the type were acieved by Turkish machines taking on Iraqi Il-28 bombers violating the Turkish air space.
The French F-84Fs were flown from French bases and during the 1956 Operation Musketeer also from bases in Cyprus and Israel. Those flying from Israeli bases temporarily wore the IAF national markings instead of the standard French roundels. This boxing of our highly detailed F-84F model offers one scheme of a machine flown in France plus two as taking part in the Operation Musketeer, one of which is with the Israeli stars..
Grunau Baby IIB 'German WWII Glider' 1/48
Both in the pre-war years and during the war, the Grunau Baby IIB was the most widely used glider all around the world. It is estimated that about six thousands of these simple airframes might have been built. While before the war, the Grunau Baby gliders were built mainly by amateur pilots using available drawings, with the war on the horizon the type entered almost mass production in Germany to serve as a basic training type with the NSFK " Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps, a paramilitary organization within the Nazi party. And the same system of flying training was used by Germany allies such as Slovakia or Croatia.
Our model of this important type comes on one styrene sprue joined by a clear one with the windshield. The decal sheet caters for two NSFK gliders, one of which flew in a camouflage scheme in Eastern Prussia in 1944 whilst the other one was flown from an airfield near the city of Dresden and featured a painted emblem of a sponsoring organisation. These two schemes are joined by two more, one from Slovakia with civil registration and one as owned by the Croatia air force.
- accurate and nicely detailed model
- interesting colour schemes
- a type very important for the history of aviation. Price:£15.50

CASA C-212-300/400 'Long Nosed Casas' 1/72
At the end of the 1960s, the Spanish air force begun to look for a type to replace the then widely used transport aircraft, of which the longest-serving were the Ju-52s built in the 1930s. The military issued requirements calling for a new transport and multi-purpose type and to fit these requirements, the CASA company brought forward their concept of a twin-engined, turbo-prop powered high-wing plane with fixed undercarriage and with STOL capabilities. The project known as the CASA C.212 Aviocar was accepted and a mass production was launched both in Spain and in Indonesia, there under a licence. First batches had all a short forward fuselage and were powered by various types of engines, later type designated C.212-300 sported longer fuselage, wings with winglets, more powerful engines, the TPE331-10R-513C and different propellers. 1998 saw the intoduction of the C.212-400 with TPE331-12JR-701C engines, upgraded avionics and higher payload.
It is no overstatement to say that the C.212s fly all over the world and the list of the operators might seem to be almost endless. The C.212 keep flying with the militaries of the USA (C-41), Mexico, Central and South America (Panama, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia and Argentina), in Europe, they were flown or still are in Sweden, Spain, Portugal, France, Malta, in Africa they can be found from the very Norht to the southern-most tip, flying for instance with Tchad, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe among others. Down under in Australia the C.212s are used in the training of the local Red Barrets and also with the Australian Antarctic Division of the Department of the Environment which operate them in Antarctica. And in Asia, the type flies with operators in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam or the Philippines, among others.
The model kit portrays the long-nose variety and offers the markings of the No.44 Sqn SAAF machine flown in South Africa, a Venezuelan airframe in service with the Escuadrón Aeronaval de Patrullaje Marítimo and a Argentina-based machine in the colours of Prefectura Naval (Coast Guard)..
Curtiss P-40M Warhawk 'Involuntarily from Russia to Finland' 1/72
During the Second World War, the P-40M Warhawk fighter aircraft was used both by the USAAF and the air forces of the Allies. Over two hundres were also delivered to the Soviet Union. P-40M s/n 43-5925 White 23 saw only very brief service with the VVS (Soviet Air Force). When the new machine was being flown over to the unit, its pilot 2nd Lt. V.A.Revin got lost, landed by mistake on Finnish territory and both the machine and the pilot were captured. The Finnish military was reluctant to put the machine to operational service, Finnish pilots of HLe.Lv.32 were of the opposite opinion however, get the machine to airworthy conidion and flew it covertly, which eventually came to light and the Curtiss was officially approved for military use and flown until the end of the war.
The P-40M kit comes on three styrene sprues with one containing clear parts. All of which offer the top quality and detail overall. The decal sheet caters for the original markings of the Soviet-flown White 23 with red stars and white tail, and the markings of the plane in two various Finnish schemes.. The final mass produced version was the P-40N, introduced to service in 1944, and with the allies known as the Kittyhawk Mk.IV.
The truly superb model kit of this important fighter contains a decal sheet with markings for a No.87 Sqn RAAF machine named Black Magic flown by the only Aboriginal Australian pilot, F/Sgt Leonard Victor Waters.
Supermarine Seafire FR Mk.46 The Mk.46 variety of the Seafire was originaly a navalized Spitfire Mk.22, closely following their predecessor the Seafire Mk.45 and so possessing the fixed (not folding) wing with laminar type aerofoil. From the Mk.22, ït inherited the low back rear fuselage and naval equipment, sting-type arrestor hook and catapult spools. Only twenty-four were built in the end as the definite Seafire FR.47 type had entered the production. Even the rather small number, two varieties existed, a fighter type and also the fighter-reconnaissance version fitted with cameras behind the cockpit.
The kit set comes on five styrene sp rues joined by one with clear parts. The fuselage halves come in two styles, too, to depict the differences between the fighter and figher-recon airframes. The decal sheet caters for two machines as operated by No.1832 NAS RNVR at RNAS Culham. One of them is a fighter, the other one a fighter-recce FR Mk.46 machine.. Price:£17.99

Saab J/A-21R 'First Jet made in Sweden'
The Saab J-21A was developed and manufactured during WW2 powered by a piston DB605 engine. In the post war years however, the type was redesigned further and was fitted with a jet engine, and so the J-21R variety was created to become the very first jet plane of Swedish design. (the first such powered airfame on Swedish skies though was the Vampire Mk.I, 1/72 scale stavebnici SH72339 DH.100 Vampire Mk.I 'The First Jet Guardians of Neutrality' is recommended here). The Saab J-21R was in use as a fighter aeroplane while the ground attack version bore the designation A-21R, these airframes being able to carry unguided missile projectiles or a machine gun pod under the belly.
The model kit consists of three styrene sprues, one with clear parts, etches and resin parts. The decals cater for three Swedish machines.. Price:£18.20

Nakajima Ki-43-II Ko/Otsu 'Japan's allies' The Ki-43 Hayabusa/Oscar was arguably one of the most significant fighter types of the Japanese Army Air Force. The Oscar was also delivered to the air forces of Japan allies as were the puppet state of Manchuria and Thailand. The Manchukuo Imperial Air Force Oscars bore interesting and colourful markings and on the fuselage sides also had large presentation slogans. The Thai fighters saw combat against USAAF aircraft and several of remaining examples were still in service after the war with the Royal Thai Air Force.
The kit portrays both the Manchurian Ki-43-II Koh version and the Thai Ki-43-II Otsu machine. The latter can be modelled in two various camouflage and marking styles, either wearing camouflage pattern of small colour blotches and white elephant national markings or in standard camouflage pattern of rather large colour field with markings of stripes in the Thai national colours..
Dassault-Mirage IIIC 'Armée de l'Air' The Mirage IIIC was the first jet produced in Western Europe to break the double speed of the sound in the level flight. The type was the very first of te whole family of Mirage fighters IIIC, IIIE and 5 some of which keep flying even until these days. The Mirage IIICJ was the epitome of the Israeli air supremacy in the wars with the neighbouring Arab countries during the War over Water, Six Day War, Attrition War and Yom Kipur War as well as many other more minor conflicts. A great number of Israeli fighter pilots became aces flying their Mirages. The Mirage IIIC saw service with the domestic Armée de l'Air, too, the first airframes being fitted with a unique belly mounted rocket booster motor to enhance the performance in the initial climb. The later machines though had this booster removed to enable them to carry more ordnance to more distant targets. The Mirage IIIC was also delivered to the SAAF and some of the ex-IAF machines found their way to Argentina. The type completely proved worthy in its role of air superiority jet.
As many as seven sprues of grey styrene plus one sprue with clear parts offer highly and finely detailed parts, the kits also has a sheet of decals with markings for four French machines, two of which flew in the natural colour of metal (one of them of the early booster-fitted variety), then also one machine in blue grey over aluminium and one in the later desert scheme.
