The base was first formed in 2001, with 1 Eskadra Lotnictwa Taktycznego (1.ELT) being the main unit stationed there flying the Mikoyan MiG-29 (9.12A) and MiG-29UB (9.51A). The units primary role is that of air defence covering both Polish and wider NATO airspace, including that of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Also units based at Mi�...a�é-zsk Mazowiecki is the 2nd Search and Rescue Group flying the PZL W3 Sok�Æ'é��...a�é-s.
