Caracal Models - CD72096 - 1:72 | RE-PRINTED!!! Lockheed NASA F-104 Starfighter While the USAF service of the F-104 has been relatively short, the Starfighter had a long and fruitful service history with NASA. In this 1/72 scale decal sheet, we provide markings for NASA F-104s in both the original 1960s scheme and the later white/blue color scheme. There are markings to build any one of the three original F-104Ns, one of which (013) was tragically lost in an air-to-air collision with the XB-70A Valkyrie on June 8, 1966. The options on this decal sheet (designed to fit the Hasegawa kits) are: F-104N, NASA 011 (later 811) F-104N, NASA 012 (later 812) F-104N, NASA 013 YF-104A, NASA 818 (N818NA) F-104G, NASA 820 (N820NA) F-104G, NASA 826 (N826NA) TF-104G, NASA 825 (N825NA) More | Aircraft decals (military) | Future Releases | £14.99
Caracal Models - CD72102 - 1:72 | McDonnell-Douglas F-18 Hornet - The Early Years The second sheet in our "The Early Years" series covers a wide variety of prototype/FSD Hornets from the early, exciting years of F-18 development. We provide markings for jets that took part in critical stages such as spin testing, weapons tests, and carrier trials. The wide selection of markings are supplemented by crew and mission markings when appropriate, different carrier name options, and enough decals for those ubiquitous photo-calibration stickers that could be seen on all FSD Hornets. The instruction sheet has information on what modifications are needed for your prototype Hornet project, making it easier to build an F-18 that will be really different from the many others on the contest table. The options on this decal sheet are: F-18A #2 BuNo. 160776 F-18A #3 BuNo. 160777 (carrier trials aircraft) F-18A #4 BuNo. 160778 F-18A #5 BuNo. 160779 F-18A #6 BuNo. 160780 (spin testing aircraft) F-18A #6 BuNo. 160780 (as NASA 840) F-18A #7 BuNo. 160782 TF-18A #1, BuNo. 160781 More | Aircraft decals (military) | Catalogue | £13.99
Caracal Models - CD72106 - 1:72 | Grumman F-14 Tomcat - The Early Years. Multiple marking options for prototype and test F-14A Tomcats. In this decal sheet, we go back to the first few years of the F-14 and provide markings for prototype and development Tomcats. The ill-fated first prototype (which crashed in its first flight), AIM-54 Phoenix development aircraft (complete with YAIM-54 missile markings!), Pacific Missile Test Center and Patuxent River-based development jets are all here. As is the norm with our "Early Years" series, we spent many hours to study the subjects depicted on this sheet. Stencilling to build any one of the options is included. While the decals were designed to fit the Fine Molds kit, they should work with any 1/72 scale F-14A kit in the market. Caracal Models - CD72140 - 1:72 | NASA McDonnell-Douglas F-18 Hornet NASA has operated a fleet of F/A-18 "legacy" Hornets for various flight research activities for years. These aircraft play a very important role for exploring new technologies and concepts in aviation - not to mention that they look great in the NASA color scheme! In this 1/72 scale sheet, we provide markings for six NASA Hornets - both single and twin seaters, some with special markings for specific research programs. In addition to all of the options featured on our previous 1/48 scale set, this set also includes bonus options for F-18 HARV research aircraft in 1/48 and 1/72. For the most part these aircraft are regular A & B model legacy Hornets. The instructions clearly explain the additional parts you may require for some of the options (the buddy refueling pod for 847, and optional travel pods). We designed this sheet to fit the Hasegawa kit, but it should work with Academy kits as well as any other dimensionally accurate 1/72 scale F-18A/B kit in the market. The options on this decal sheet are: NASA F-18A "843" NASA F-18B "845" Systems Research Aircraft (SRA) NASA F-18B "846" - Armstrong Flight Research Center NASA F-18A "847" AAR (Automated Aerial Refueling) program markings NASA F-18A "850" NASA F-18B "852" - Dryden Flight Research Center NASA F-18 HARV bonus markings (both in 1/48 and 1/72) More | Aircraft decals (military) | Catalogue | £14.99
Caracal Models - CD72155 - 1:72 | Lockheed F-104 "Test & Drone Zippers" Embark on a journey back to a pivotal era in U.S. Air Force (USAF) history with Caracal's latest 1/72 scale decal set for the F-104 Starfighter, showcasing its less commonly celebrated but equally fascinating roles as a high-speed test aircraft, aerospace trainer, and an unmanned drone! The F-104 Starfighter, with its distinctive slender fuselage and supersonic capabilities, was not only a frontline interceptor but also played a critical role in advancing aeronautical science and flight technologies during its service from the late 1950s through the early 1970s. The missions flown by these "Zippers" were crucial in the development of technologies that shaped the future of aviation and aerial combat, marking the F-104 as a versatile and invaluable asset beyond its combat duties. Featuring seventeen (17) carefully selected and historically accurate marking options, this 1/72 scale set highlights the F-104's involvement in experimental programs, high-speed testing, and its transition into a remotely piloted target drone. We also included markings for NF-104 and JF-104 aerospace trainers. Each option tells a story of innovation, risk, and technological advancement, capturing the essence of an era where the Starfighter was at the forefront of aerospace experimentation. The iconic Douglas DC-9 airliner was chosen by the USAF for a aeromedical evacuation and VIP transport aircraft as the C-9A and VC-9C respectively and by the US Navy/USMC as a passenger/cargo aircraft as the C-9B. 21 C-9As and 3 VC-9Cs were built for the USAF, while 17 C-9Bs were built for the USN/USMC as well as 14 ex-civil airliners that were leased and or purchased by the Navy. Many of the purchased DC-9s were converted to C-9B standards with the addition of a large cargo loading door on the forward left-hand side of the fuselage. A 32nd C-9B was purchased through the Navy but operated by the US government and later by Ratheon as a NC-9D. Warpaint Series - WPS132 - No Scale | Boeing B-52A-F Stratofortress. The Boeing B-52 Stratofortress has become an icon although it was the result of a difficult birth courtesy of various officials whose understanding of realistic goals was overridden by the desire to chase an impossible dream. Eventually a great eight engined high winged bomber would appear on the Seattle flight line. The first model would be a development batch with the B Model being the first operational version. From these two batches would come the famous Balls 3 and Balls 8 of NASA fame. Of all the versions of these tall tail bombers the B-52D would be the one that would achieve a certain measure of fame. Not only was this the largest production run of all the models, but it would also be the main bomber used during the Vietnam War having succeeded the B-52F in this role. Eventually the B-52D would be the only survivor remaining in service till it was replaced in the remaining Strategic Air Command Bombardment Wings by the B-52G and B-52H.
